98 GT oil leak from the oil filter adapter???

Hi, everyone, this is my first post, I got a 98 Mustang GT 5 speed convertible. Yellow with black top and charcoal leather interor with 127K on the odo.

Has anyone had oil leak out of the part that the oil filter screws into on the 4.6 ???

I cleaned it up, looked at it and started the car up, there is oil coming out of a little pin hole from the oil filter adapter.

Do I just replace the oil filter adapter? any recommendations on where to buy the part? Any advice would be great! thanks!

Mine was dripping also so i got a new gasket for it before the oil change...when i pulled the filter i saw there was a bolt holding the adapter on...it had come lose. Pull your filter and snug the adapter thingy back down and that should take care of it. I didn't even need the new gasket.

Oh, my bad, its not leaking from the oil filter adapter like I first said, its leaking from the oil cooler, the part closest to the oil filter.

The 98 GT came standard with the factory oil cooler, by the way.

I had a leak which was very similar to the one you describe on my 98 Cobra. Although a new adapter soved the problem I'll bet it just needed new gaskets. But I no longer have the problem. I let the dealership take care of the problem and it cost me $425.
