Question

Quick Q for the turbo guys

I need some input from the turbo guys here, i have a custom setup being built, and i need to know what to do with the oil vent line (pcv) coming from the drivers side head into the intake tube, should i put a check valve in it, just go to an open air breather (stand alone one sits on the top) or hook it up normal, i cant see doing that and pressurizing the crankcase, cant see it being a good idea anyways. also the EGR tube that was on the drivers side manifold isn't hooked up right now, wondering if deleteing that will kill my mileage or hurt my motor. just looking for some input on how your guys turbo systems are setup. thanks in advance for your input

the EGR is for emissions. Don't worry about it, hell delete it. I would go with a breather and a catch can.

Delete the EGR. Either run a breather on the valve cover and cap the manifold port or put a check valve into the line so you don't pressurize the crankscase under boost. Either way works fine.

I'm assuming your ride is 1996 or later (OBD2) If you just cap the EGR, you will set a MIL code like P1407 EGR No Flow Detected, or P1408 EGR Flow out of Self-Test Range. The only way I know to get rid of this event is to have a custom tune done to stop the PCM from performing those functions. You can do it yourself with a Tweecer.

^ Correct, but i'm sure he can get it taken care of when he gets it tuned for the turbo

Exactly. It will need a custom tune anyway so the tuner can turn that off.

Yeah, true. Might as well dump the evap purge as well, get rid of that stuff, and save some weight on the front end!
