Difference between gt and cobra exhaust

Hey, got a 96 Cobra and trying to bring it to pass emissions. Currently I have straight pipes to single chamber mac mufflers. I work in an exhaust shop and figured I'd order the stock cobra exhaust just so I could throw it on to pass emissions. THe only listing I could find though was stock gt exhaust which quotes "except california and cobra". What's the difference between the california/cobra and gt h pipe? What do you guys suggest I do? None of our distributers sell the stock cobra h pipe.

I have my plates but dmv refuses to give the out of state title up to me until emissions pass..anyway around this perhaps?

Thanks!

do you live in cali? if you do you need the h pipe that comes with all the cats for your car, if you cant find a stock one, go to a junkyard and look for one. the only diff i think for our cars is if you have a 99-04 cobra that came with the independent rear suspension is the fact that the catback is different, the midpipe should be the same. ive looked for aftermarket H and X pipes and most of them fit both the cobra and gt for the years 96-98. Also if you really dont wanna deal with swappin the exhaust on and off, just find someone who will smog and pass it for you in cali, there are plenty of places that will do it, you just gotta find one that wont charge you too much.

I don't live in cali I live in Connecticut. So I can really save myself the trouble of finding stock exhaust and just unplug #1 injector with the straight pipes on? Won't it still run CELs?
