King Cobra clutch?????

have Any of you guys put a King Cobra clutch in you 96-98 mustangs? I bought one but a guy told me after I bought it that they do not work the best in our generation mustang. They are better in a 87-93 style with the 5L. So have any of you installed one and if you have how do yo ulike it? is it really stiff?

+1
I just threw the RAM HDX in and it is a real cheap, great holding clutch. At less than $200 and grabs pretty hard, can't go wrong!!!

Ive run the king cobra clutch in my 98 GT for 3 years now. Never had the first problem, If you have a stock or mild modded mustang then its a good clutch, If your car makes big power, dont use it.
It is a little stiffer than stock clutch, but not bad.

I had it... and amazingly it worked well for what I needed... I didnt like the way it felt, but i delt with that.

It held up to over 200 track passes on slicks at 4500 RPM launches, and half of those were on nitrous hitting it with atleast 375 FTQ. Only slipped once in 4th gear after hot lapping the car 5 or 6 passes. Overall for the cost, I would probably buy another, but would also be tempted to try a centerforce.

but to answer your qestion... yes it will work in your car.

I had one and it was good for a while but it just started slipping and burned up in about a year haha. I'd recommend a Ram clutch which is what I have now. I love it and havent had any problems with it.

thanks guys... I am hoping it works just fine.. Like I said b4 I have heard it is really stiff. I have been told that I should switch out my stock plastic quadrant for the steeda one ot the king cobra clutch will just strip it.. since it is so stiff

i had one in my car, and it was junk. it slipped from the day i installed it to the day i took it out. i have heard a couple guys having issue with them (i being one of them), but most are happy with it. i was running a super king cobra in mine but not going to be enough now.

I'm also replacing the clutch in my 97 Cobra this weekend.

Centerforce? how do those stand up for a stock motor like mine.... I'm hard on it but its stock with lots of weight reduction.

Any ideas?

Everyone says Spec sucks, now Centerforce, and King Cobra.
