Transmision Question

What year did Ford start putting the Tremec Transmision in the Mustangs ? My problem is I bought a transmision to replace my 96's Borg & Warner and they said it came out of a 96 but its a Tremec . Now my speedometer is way way off so I took the speedo assembly out of my Borg & Warner and tried to put it in the Tremec but it didnt work ! It looks to me like the Tremec has an eye that watches something inside and the old one has a gear ! What do I have to do to fix this ?

borg warner is the same as the tremec's. the t45 that was put in from 96-early 01. the 99+ cars were electric speedo's, yours of course is gear driven. there should be no reason why you should have any issues at all if it came out of a 96-98. if the gear inside was changed out, that may be an issue. there will be a gear inside that you can see, the electric cars had a magnetic pick up ring that the sensor will read off of.

I have mine unpluged too ! 330CubeGt when you unpluged yours did your car want to stall when you came up to a stop sign ? Because after I unpluged mine it started stalling if I didnt give it a little rev right before stopping !!

The transmission that I have now is the one with the magnetic eye . So apprently the guy that sold it to me didnt know what year it came out of because it is not a gear driven speedo . Also the tranny seems to be a better than the one that was in it . It shifts better and seems to have a shorter throw !
