Need help Installing PI Motor & TR3560
I 'am looking for some advice on installing a 2004 PI motor and 3650 Tremec into my 98 Mustang GT. I am hearing some different things regarding fuel rails and PCV valves. I first heard I would keep the 98 engine harness and use the 98 coils & wires, I thought this was it, now I am hearing about drilling & tapping the manifold for a sensor also. I would really like to hear from somebody who has done this. Also the T-45 to TR 3650 conversion. I have to notch out the crossmember? Can I just inststall a member from an 03-04? Is there a converter for mechanical speedo to electric tranny sending unit? I know this is a lot, I would appreciate any help I could get. I always see info on installing PI heads but not whole engines & Trans upgrade. Thanks again!

yes you will need to drill and tap your new intake manifold for sensor. 99+ has only one where 96-98 has 2. unless you are going to do a custom tune. it can be turned off.as far as your cross memeber i do not know. but i do know about the speed sensor. there is no adapter. wile your transmission is out (of both vehicles) pull of shifters of both as well as push roll pin throught to remove block of aluminum on shift rod (forgive me for not knowing name) then remove the bolt and pull off tailhousing. when off you will see a plastic gear on your old tranny and a bumpy metal ring on your new tranny. pull off the first snap rings. switch gears (no direction on them) then replace snapring, install tail housing (cleaning and using hightemp gasket seal) torqe to spec(if no way to measure just do not over tighten. just snug well. then install, fill with oil and install shifter. you can find a right up on coverting the sesors. if you have both out. it might take a hour or two MAX to compelte both. not hard just little time consuming. hope this helps some. if you need anything else. email me not pm. i seldom sigh on mmikeclass06@yahoo.com

yeah as far as drilling and tapping for a new sensor its not that hard. there is a temp sensor on the left side and an ect sensor on the right side of your 98 intake. the 99-04 combined those two sensors into one and it was placed on the left side of the intake... you see a hole for it. so the ghetto fix is to drill a hole for that ect sensor on the right side just like your 98 intake and your wiring harness will plug right into your ect sensor in your newly tapped hole.

Thanks for the info! Boy those NPI plastic manifolds are junk...2 cracked in two years. I can't wait to install my PI motor. What is the preferred way of pulling engine & trans, I've heard from the bottom, anyone know why?

i just pulled my engine today and left the trans in. just take pictures of the engine, disconnect and label things where they hook up. disconnect hoses and drain coolant. disconnect wiring harness shit. then from there i dont know the steps cause i took only my engine out. for the tranny i know the shifter inside has to be taken apart.
