broken timing chain guide

Recently a timing chain guide on my cobra broke. All together it cost around $1000 dollars worth of damage after replacing bent valves, timing chains, oil pump, etc. When i put it back together I used an updated guide that bolts in front of the oil pump at one end. I was wondering if anyone had had problems with broken guides or if they knew of any other upgrades a guy could do to the timing chain system. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Never seen any problems with the guides. But did have a guy with a 5.1 stroker have his buddy put the motor together and they forgot to tighten them and his motor went bye bye.

Get a gear drive instead of a timing chain. I was just F-in around.

I kinda thought you might be thinking that, but i wasnt sure. haha, A DOHC motor is gear driven with a chain. A non-interference motor would be much better. I installed a belt drive on my old 5.0. That was kinda cool.

You 4.6 boys and your newfangled gear/chain setups. I was born / raised on interference setups. Mainly the bronco...

What motor does youre bronco motor have? Cause if it has a 302/351 than its the same exact set-up as the 4.6 sohc/dohc. Except the crank gear is much smaller, and the chain is longer?

I know what kinda set-up it uses. I was just saying, no matter what kinda motor you have its going to have a Crank gear, and a cam gear. Whether its conneted with a belt or chain. They are the same interference motors. One just uses a over head cam and the other uses over head valves.
