I cant seem to find a rebuild kit for my 97 Gt. How much do they usually cost? I know the master kit with pistons and all is like 1k

of course, lol. I am having trouble finding a kit, however there has been a change of plans. A mustang performance company wants to sell me a complete PI motor from Throttle Body to Oil Pan for obo $1500 it has 45k on it what do you think???

I would opt to go with a rebuild kit on the motor. Then you know where you are at as far as internals and how tight it will all be. The pi motor with 45k could have been beat on and you could possible be in the same bucket as you are in with the rebuild situation.

$1500 is more than I would pay for a 4.6 pi motor.

How much do you think the FULL rebuild will end up costing. Seals, Gaskets, Rings, bearings, and timing components?

depends how far you want to go.... and i think the timing kit for a 4.6 alone is like 400+ but my 5.4 i just rebuild was 120 ;> so im happy

so if timing kit alone is 400+ ied say ur looking at 1000ish maybe more if u do it right

that would be great at 1000. It would allow me to do some extra tweaks

Yea it all depends on how far you want to go what parts you want to either keep or replace the more you want to replace the more costly it will become.

The PI Motor Is worth it but i wouldent pay 1500.

for my 4.6 to 5.4 swap i went and got 4 bolts the same thread style as intake bolts and put 2 chains 1 at the front of the intake mounting area 1 at the rear and then another chain from both of those to the lift worked good but dont use your intake bolts theyll bend i guarentee it ;>
