A/c Problems
The a/c in my 97 v6 only comes out of the defrost vents. I changed the function selector switch, still doing the same.

I think these are vacuum powered. check the vac line that comes thru the firewall to make sure its connected to the vacuum system. If it is, and has vacuum (you can 'suck" on the hose if you don't have a gauge to make sure its pulling vacuum) then pull the AC knob thing and make sure its connected and getting vacuum to the back of it. I'm not 100% on the mustang ac operation, but my jeep did the exact same thing and it was a cracked fitting near the engine that leaked my vacuum signal.

Shrink tubing is all you need to jimmy that up.There is a small vacume line on your upper plenum between your IAC and your TB position sensor. This vacume line controls the levers in your vent system. When one of them breaks it will only work on defrost. I have posted some pics for you. The lines are red, and on one of the pics you can see the white shrink tubing covering mine where it was cracked.
