Need oxygen sensor help

I Have been having problems on and off for a week now. My 97 gt sohc 4.6 will idle real rough and when you are cruising at one speed it cuts in and out. I thought i had bad gas but it does it off and on nothing seems to trigger it. I put 500 miles on it this weekend and no problems but it is back at it again today. Today the check engine light came on so i scanned it and it came up bank 1 sensor 1 lean. From what i gather that is a oxygen sensor bad?? If so which one would it be? I assume a front one it has 4. I was thinking of doing a tune up and getting some of those g3 plugs are they worth it?

truth be told. only buy ford parts. aftermarket stuff sucks. go with motorcraft or ngk plugs and ford racing wires. butthe 02s from ford. there 130 a piece but worth it and replace both of them. oh yeaaaa do u have long tubes

It already has ford racing wires on it. i think the guy i bought it from ( did not seem to be to smart) changed the wires because he wanted blue ones to match the cold air intake. I don't think he changed the plugs and i have had it for a year and a half and put 12,000 miles on it. It has 140,000 on it. The stock plugs are said to be motorcraft double platinum they are like $5 each and the g3's are $6 each and i have seen them advertising them on horsepower tv saying they where the best thing sense running water.

That is quite simply about as ignorant as it gets.

I have been running 1 Bosch O2 Sensor and 3 Stock O2 Sensors for over 4 months now and the only issue I had was the O2 Sensor I originally bought was bad out of the box.

Kinda what i thought sounds to me like he may have replaced the wrong one? Which is why i am trying to figure out where bank 1 sensor 1 is? I dont have a extra $200 to spend on it at the moment or i would replace them all.

I'm gonna say front, passenger side sensor.

As for a tune up, get NGK TR55 plugs gaped at .054, fuel filter, oil change, clean your intake, change coolant, change transmission fluid, change differential oil, flush brakes, replcae PCV

The spark plugs are like $17 for all eight. Fuel filter is like $7, coolant is like $15, Transmission is about $25, oil is $35. You can pick and choose.

Don't be immature dude. It was an ignorant statement. THe only reason it would do that is probably due to you putting it on the wrong side. I can't help that I actually learned how to do it right on my car. I never cailmed to know everything either.

an oxygen sensor is an oxygen sensor... it will read correctly no matter what if its a good oxygen sensor...

the brand is the only thing that is going to determine how long it "lives"

and by replacing one oxygen sensor, it does not mean the other side is going to go... could have just been yours went at the same time... but hell on my moms expedition, i have put three drivers side up stream sensors on, and guess what none of the rest went bad... Too bad the ones i put in(off on of the mustang exhausts I have) were bad after only a few thousand miles...
