SICK OF THIS

So i pondered the idea of keeping my 96 GT and throwing some cash in it.

I figure I'd throw some 4:11 gears , pop on some headers, get a good tune. and clean up the sensors etc

After basically calling 4-5 ppl in the phone book I now see that finding a good all around mechanic is basically impossible.

So if you wanna put some real cash into your mustang your gonna get screwed with mass labor at diff shops. There is no hook up with one good shop and get a deal because your getting quantity upgrades.

So yeh fuck it. Im trading.

depending on where you are from you can join a car club.. they normally only go to one trusted shop and that shop loves the business so they hook up the members..

just a thought.

Thats the best part of being a Ford tech

If you want a modded car, you either need money or tech knowhow.

Casper remember the problem I was having with the overheat / water @ coolant dumped out on me the other day?

Well I popped the hood open today after work just now after I got home from work.

All of the coolant @ water is still in the reservoir, would this not be the water pump being that none of the fluids are circulating?

sounds like the water pump.

besides... why pay for labor.. go buy a hanes or chiltons book and do it your self..if you are having trouble with something.. i am sure someone here knows the answer.

+1 on the comment about the hanes repair manuals (or better yet, a ford shop guide specific to your year/model)... I use them religiously, unless it is something internal, then I'll leave it to the pros.

- - also, sounds like your water pump, based on whatcha said there - -

oh and labor is a bitch here too (it's up to around $110/hr and even more at your local Ford shop, ouch)

I second the whole manual thing none of it's really hard. Unless you get to the big stuff. Just take your time it will all come together what are you trying to do exactly?

Yeh my friend is a little more mechanicly fingered then i am , but even he says for a water pump you need one of those pulley belt machines or w/e

Yeh He's always telling me to get a manual.

However I want my mustang to have around 350-400hp to the floor for me to be happy with it. And I just dont see that happening easily (even with 5 grand).
