I don't need to hear it, I've seen the evidence. A multipoint harness, worn correctly, keeps your body rigid to the seat. Look at any rollover where the roof collapsed - notice that the collapsed roof occupies where your head would be. Traditional shoulder belts allow your body to flex out of the way, rather than keeping your head in the line of fire.

I'd rather not hear about any of the MM family getting killed because of something entirely preventable.

^^^ Yeah, but they look cool!!!!

J/k.. Gotta agree. Leave them for race cars. Get nice seats and stick with the stock seat belts.

Not to mention the "rice" factor in a street car.... imho.

Just to toss an FYI out there... I put in new seats not too long ago and it did the job. They gold me in so much better.. Now i can take corners and drift and stuff and stay in place.

Harness would be a little to inconvenient for a DD. Iv still got them if anyone wants them

I tried to explain this to some dumb ass in a convertible when he asked why I did not put harnesses in my vert like he did in his. He did not listen. In a vert the dangers from this are 10 fold.

ive got harnesses and a stock motor ... but thats okay cuz i have a not so stock motor sitting on an engine stand waiting to go in and yes harnesses are a PIA, especially for a daily driver, you want to get your wallet out of your pocket? gotta undo the harness. Phone going off? gotta undo the harness. have to lean a bit out of your window at the atm? gotta undo the harnesses. and every time you have a passenger you have to explain how to do them up and how to adjust them so that they are safe too and it just sucks, only get them if you have to and if you have the proper means to attach them.

My solution---
It works just as good as harnesses. Without them

Seats make the differance man. Stock seats SUCK
btw they are EBAY racing seats. 300 for the set

Im not sure. It dosent say anything on them.

No writing on the straps or the lock.

Ones out and ones in the box. The other stuff in the box is the old useless backets that came with my seats.
Here are some pics of it..

Ebay seats would never ever, ever, never, ever be certified.

They are cheap, tubular seats. They would fold up like a rag doll in a serious accident.

Not talking about seats Sirl. Talking about the harnesses. Which I dont think are certified but more of an aesthetic thing. They feel secure but I just dont feel like putting them in.

Also my seats are very firm and dont seem like they'll be folding any time soon. Granted I didnt get the cheapest set online. But the quality of my seats is pretty good. I find them comfortable and firm. The only issues is the material quality. I dont know what you mean by tubular seats...

I think I know what seats you are reffering to Sirl, which in that case I would agree with you.

and just to make sure we get this straight, my seats passed tech inspection with flying colors.

It is true that you would be held more rigid to your seat, but it is possible in a 4 point to still slide down the seat in a collision. While I would say that I agree that its not a good idea to have full harnesses without a roll bar, I wouldn't say its just stupid, depending on the car. In our cars, which is what we are talking about. It would be pretty foolish.

Ofcourse a poorly installed roll bar may not be any better than nothing...

There is another image further down that page where you can see the bottom pads of the cage sticking out of the floor pan.

Hey so im looking to get racing seats, and with those i need to get the harness. Im not into racing so its almost more as looks, saddly. But i know that some harness's require a bar in the back, but all i want is the two straps to hold me in. I dont need them to be all super safe cuz im not going to be racing, but they need to be able to protect me, so where can i bolt them down? the back of the seat? or or are there other belts i can get?

I wouldnt recommend them as i hope you read this entire thread. BUT if you want to which we wont stop you.

You need to buy a harness bar which will cost about 100-300 bux. The harness needs to go over the bar and then it can be bolted down. ALL HARNESS EITHER NEED THAT BAR OR A ROLL CAGE WITH THAT BAR. Without it the seat will bend on you and crush your spine in an accident.
