1996 saleen cobra

saleen cobra is for sale two towns form me. has 50k is white. car is parked outside near the ocean for its whole life. guy bought it new from my cousins ford dealer, asking 13k. i seen it last year driving by it looked great shape. i know the salt water is a killer on cars. my wifes car is 2002 vw with only 50k on it and the bottom of the car is rusty and surface rust here and there so i figure i would have to get it for a great deal for me to get it and she lived 6 blocks form the ocean till last year.

There is one for sale on ebay for 22k, if that gives you an idea what it's worth.

I just looked it up on Nada guides and the average is $14,500 with the high side being $16,500. So as long as it is in as good a shape as you say then that's a great price.

Of course, the one on ebay is a 98 and it's supercharged with 503 rwhp.

I would buy it...

Saleen Cobras are a rare breed if its a true saleen cobra...Seeing as in 96 there were only 5 Saleen Cobra Coupes built...And 6 Convertibles...

My #1 issue would be documentation and a deep VIN check...

As it is 1 of 5 built if this is correct...

It would be almost as badass as buying a 95 PP1 Cobra...

The bumper should be numbered, saleen and ford should both be able to verify the vin.

The bumper can be faked...EASILY...

I would have to check a chassis number and a block number for verification...

Iv'e considered doing that with mine. Everyone says don't but I'm kinda tired of the looks now. I was thinking black graphics all the way around, maybe red for the windshield banner and then painting the rear spoiler black ala mach 1 style. The windows have been tinted 20% since the pics in my sig too.
