Well of course. It's just an extra thing to be aware of if you're swapping it into a manual car, not specifically because it's a 4v.

the mark vii's or whatever also have their intake valves shrouded whereas the cobras do not and i think its difficult if not immpossible to remove it but im not 100% on that.

Nope, the heads are identical to the Cobra. The only difference in the heads come from the cams. The intake cam of the Mark VIII has a slightly different profile.

If I swapped a 4 valve into my 96 gt would I have to do any modifications to the rear end or tranny?

I just found that out and I stand partially corrected. The 93-95 Mark VIII ones do have the shrouded intake, the 97+ have the same as the cobra.

Nope. Cobra used the exact same T45 and rear end as the GT.

The aftermarket for 4vs is tiny compared to 2vs, and you're gonna make one incredibly heavy motor (second heaviest mod motor shortblock + heaviest mod motor heads). Not only is the car going to handle worse (all that extra weight up front), but you've just negated some of the power gain by having to push that extra weight.

On top of that, you lose the forged crank that makes the 4v shortblock able to reliably turn the rpms that the 4v heads need to make power.

All that to save, what, a couple hundred bucks over pulling a whole motor?

very f'n good point right there.
reps when im off the work computer and back on my labtop
