I have a 96 ECU in the car right now and after reading the ECU and seeing it in the sniper tuning software the file sie comes up and is half the file size of my older 98 Gt 5-Speed ECU.

Long story short it ran fine with the 98 5 speed computer and now the only difference is the blower and the auto. i now have the correct tranny harness and the auto ecu and i have fuel, spark etc... motor turns over great but it never starts,Cam P.S and Crank P.S are in working order and plugged in.Gone over just about everything you can think of.

And when i see ECUs for sale on Ebay etc. some list the 98 on its own others list the 96-97s as being the same but some list 96-98 being the same.the Box code on the current ECU Reads DDX2 and there is no DDX2 box code numbers for the 98 so thats leading me to belive the ECU is my problem all along.And i now have the cash to buy the correct ECU for the car and i want to get some feedback from someone who has more knowlege on the subject then i do. before i spend the money

I sold my 5-speed 98 ECU like a ra-tard to make a few extra bux if i had not done that i could slap it in and see if that would run the car but unfortunately i can't do that now.

So please let me know what you honestly think/know before i make the move to buy this ECU.Any feedback is much appreciated!!!

It's my understanding that the ecu's were changed in 98. The 96 & 97 are the same though. The 98 ecu is an upgrade as far as I undersdtand it. It is more programable.

you try to disable the PATS system with the software ? which harness did you change , have you looked at Pinouts for both PCMs ?

No, No need to.

Did not change any Engine harness only converted it to COP, but the 5 speed harness to the tranny to the auto harness.And that's fine.

I don't believe the pin out is different (But it could be) im just limited to what i can do with this ECU i mean it seems to be working just fine but it just won't run my car.Turns over great but never fires up...
