Some will tell you different but i rather be grabbing cold air from in the fender then hot air from the engine bay.

I have BBK intake to the fenderwell. In a 96, the filter that comes with it the fit is pretty tight. You may have to play with it for a while to get it in, but it looks nice, performs decently, and connects easily to the old stuff.

I have the BBK. It's pretty tight on my 70 mm, but you could get a different grip for it. I see them at Autozone and o'reiley's for like 10 bucks or cheaper. I mean, if it fits it fits. Its not like theres that big of a difference in quality and even if there was, as long as it isnt dry-rotted, i dont believe itd make a power difference.

Also, ram airs are not the same as CAI. The ram air is just a non restricted version of the stock intake. its still pulling 200+ degree air from your engine bay. CAI actually take air from outside your engine bay, thus giving lower input temps and better flow.
Who told you this crap. On a 94-04 a cai is a waste of money. I got a bbk cai and the stock intake tube performed just as well. At idle when stopped they suck warm air but that is negated after 20 mph. Cai are hype. It's the tune that gives a power gain. The stocker isn't restrictive at all. So well in fact I am putting it back on. Op I got a bbk for sale with a new filter for 100 bucks plus the ride

Well...Everett be me to this one while I was typing but, truth be told...NO CAI seems to have any real HP value w/o a tune. Hmm...tune might just be the key to adding the HP. If you watch the videos from certain vendors on the web, they'll use the word "FORCE" very loosely. It is impossible for ANY CAI to "FORCE" air into an engine SUCKING in air. Unless you install a supercharger or turbocharger there is NO FORCE of the air flow into the engine. FREEFLOW...maybe. If your manifold has a 68mm throttle body (example only), it doesn't matter if it has a 9 inch tube running to it. It will only take in 68 mm of air, unless the air is truly FORCED into it under pressure. CAIs are for appearance only IMO. While they look SWEET, pay according to your own visual interest but don't be confused by the hype.

If you don't believe me, take a look at how much the tuner will add w/o upgraded CAI, then compare it to how much HP the CAI claims it will add "WITH the tune". SCT is a perfect example. The tuner is worth it, but the CAI seems to only be worth the "cool sound" it makes when you rev the engine.

Anyone who purchases a CAI for the purpose of HP gain WILL tell you they noticed something....Heck...they just paid $200-350 for "THE BEST CAI" available, why wouldn't they? Or, as Everett said, THE TRUTH. Simple physics will tell you it is impossible! If you like how it looks, BUY IT, if not, skip it. It's just pretty tubing and a filter!!

A. this thread is way too old. why did you bump it?

B. you have no need to switch maf sensors, and it will not gain you any power.

C. buy a supercharger if youd like a fancy intake mod that makes a difference.
