Ignition problems

Ok, so I was having an issue with hesitation and lost power for about a week now. I took it into the shop and they found that a wire (some sort of ground) attached to the coil pack was not hooked up. they attached it and it ran fine for a couple days. Then, the problem got worse, they diagnose it and it threw out a Coil pack A malfunction code. Ok, cool, swap out the coil pack. I get the car back and the problem got far worse. **** near got stuck in an intersection. I take it back, staggering all the way, and it throws out Coil A AND Coil B malfunction. Any suggestions what it could be?

btw, it has an 02 engine...

its a 97 mustang GT

I have ignition problems on my 97 cobra to, it runs good up to 5000 and then the power fluctuates and some times it makes it to redline but usually it makes it to6200 rpms and goes no faster,it actually ran worse with the msd coils on it, couldnt go over 5700 rpms , one day the car was stalling at every stoplight and i turned it off and went into the gas station for coffee and started it up and it idled again,as soon as i got out of town i hammered on it and noticed it was running good and before i knew it i was 125mph in third gear, the rpms said 7500 rpms ,no rev limiter?? I narrowed it down to probably the ecm but my cobra has a vortec tune so it isnt as easy to slap another ecm in it to find out. tell me how you make out.

well I'd start with the basic stuff. You could have faulty coil packs. You can switch to MSD, but if the problems in the computer you will still be getting Coil codes.

What about these "ground wires" that attach to the coil packs. what are their purpose? And how did I drive for almost a week (including 200 mile trip) with no problems? Once they're hooked up, all hell breaks loose.

i didnt read the entire thing because of time. But you have a 02 gt motor with coil on plug system or coil packs? ( meaning 8 verses 2 ) If you have a 02 motor, you would need the 02 wiring harness and ecu if youre running the coil on pluig setup.

and Wolfer.....run a can of SEAFOAM through youre PCV system.
