Odometer

Just got a 98 Gt yesterday and was driving and noticed that the odometer isn't working. Any ideas on what may could be wrong with it? Anything I should check?

Did you just buy it???
If its not working then the cars milage my be wayy over what it says.

Also take it to a mechanic and let them mess with it. Just find one thats not a dealership and wont make it end up in your carfax report =P

i think i found out whats wrong, ive been digging and apparently the small gear that turns the numbers breaks, so tomorrow ima get the cluster out and see if thats what it is.

that is more than likely what it is. i had a buddy whose went out on his and het got this Mustang 94-98 Odometer Repair Gear Kit at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

NO I have 3 mustangs here now. The GT, my 98 sixxer which will be my sisters in a few months, and then i have a green 95 that i got for like 500 bucks. I had intentions of putting a small block chevy in it, but decided just to go ahead and find a gt instead. So now i have a spare car lol

I got a whole new ( used ) cluster from ebay for $ 35 shipped. I was the only bidder though.

that seems to happen alot with the sn95's one out of the 3 i have owned had the same problem. but i didnt care enough to fix it

my odometer doesnt work either the way i see it ill drive the piss out of it and when i get ready to sell it just fix it lol i mean that would be funny...

most likely its the little speedo gear. if you replace it, make sure it is the same color as the original b/c there based on the rear's gear ratio. if its not the problem, try replaceing it with another cluster from a 98. make sure its a 98 b/c the pin lay out is different from 96/97 -98

It was definitely the little odometer gear, took the cluster out, took the back off and looked like chuck liddell had punched it (missing a few teeth hehe) anyways I ordered another gear and it will be here thursday so woot woot
