97 Mustang GT SVO??
I'm a newbie on this forum but was hoping someone could give me a little insight about a Mustang I recently purchased. I have a fair amount of knowledge about Mustangs and was planning on purchasing a 99-04 PI sn95. However, when I came across a 1997 GT in great shape with very low miles I ended up purchasing it. It has SVO labels on it, side exhaust, oversized slotted rotors, tokico gas shocks, side scoops, and a few other obvious upgrades (I tried to upload photos but couldn't seem to get the site to work??). The guy I bought it from was the original owner and said he purchased the SVO upgrade from the dealership where he bought the car. He couldn't tell me exactly all of the upgrades since he bought it over 12 years ago. I also found out it has a rare performance ECU model# TFF0. Does anyone know where I could find any more info about this SVO package? I'm considering doing the PI swap but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea on this car.

I have never heard of a sn-95 SVO... I think he fed you some lies about the car. The sideskirts say SVO and are aftermarket. Hardly anyone makes them anymore...
He put SVO badges on the side of the car as well??? You should run the vin to see everything that came with the car brother. |

no svo is real. it is a special intake manifold and heads. they outflow the pi heads and the manifold is similar to the bullit manifold. if it is really what you claim it is, you got a bad stang there. the bullit manifold was actually based off of the svo intake.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the insights. After not being able to find any info, it appears the car is a GT with a bunch of aftermarket add-ons. I guess I'll go have a look at a friend's 96-98 and see if the intakes are the same. If so, I'll assume it's just a regular NPI intake and I'll go ahead with the PI swap.

Check out the link. I have taken some pictures of my svo heads and intake. You can check the part number on your heads to see if it matches. Notice the distinctive teardrop shape of the intake side of the heads. That is distinctive to the svo head. You can see the resemblence to the bullitt intake and the svo intake. If yours don't look like the ones in the pics, then you may just have a normal set of npi heads and intake. It sounds like at the very least you have a nice svo side exhaust. The svo computer is a rare find and was made to compliment the use of the svo intake and head combo. The computer was actually reccomended for use ONLY with the svo heads, so you may very well have a set on there. The original svo part numbers are: intake manifold/ M-6256-D46 svo supercharger kit for 96-98 / M-6066-D46 svo cylinder head/ M-6049-D46 svo computer/ M-12650-B461

i happen to own a 97 mustang svo, and actually the body pieces are fiberglass and are molded to the body, not bolt ons.
svo (special vehicles operations) are made by the same manufacturer as an svt cobra (special vehicles team) the only difference in the two is the svo is a gt 4.6l 16 valve sohc, while the svt cobra is a 4.6l 32 valve dohc. they do exist, and none of the pieces are aftermarket. they also have different intakes, manifolds, pistons and rods, cam and crank, bigger throttle body, and the entire fuel system is different. they make more horsepower than a standard 97 gt, bone stock mine registered 302 hp on the dyno, plain gts only make around 280. so no, you werent fed any bullcrap, they do exist and they are actually very rare, there was only 233 red svo gts made in 1997. |

BULLSHIT! The SVO heads and intake were available to consumers through Ford Racing. If you have a "SVO", it didn't come from Ford. This reminds me of the black guy with the Mustang GTR in that youtube video. Some people are just so full of shit that it's unreal. A few cheap body parts slapped on at Maaco doesn't make a Mustang rare.

I love this part. You show me a stock NPI putting down 280 and I will literally eat my own shit.
