fuel pump getting into speakers.

Finally got around to connecting the amp for the system, but at first the amp wouldn't turn on. If its not one thing its another with this car. Always something going wrong. Got the amp to turn on. Now to test it out. Raised it half way and sounds clean. Lets take the cruise. Now I started the car and all you hear in the speakers is the buzzing of the fuel pump going off. EHHHHHHHHHH Then at the every light all you hear is that annoying buzzing noise. How do you fix that? What went wrong? how come when the cars not on it sounds okay?

How do you know that its your fuel pump making the sound? Where did you run your RCA's? With the power wire or seperate? Where did you get your ground?

The rca's are on the passenger side and the power on the driver side. The amp is under the driver sear and the groung is on the bracked where the rear bottom seat goes plugged into, took a bolt off and scratched the hell out of the paint. not sure still what it could be.

Maybe your head unit isn't grounded properly. Is your head unit original or after market?

move your ground. put it by itself and away from other wires that have power in them, also check to see if your rca's are near any wires that send a signal(power). run the rca's a few inches away from other wires, if possible

Well, it depends if it's aftermarket or not, but usually it's the black wire that gets bolted to the metal beam behind the head unit. Make sure it's clean and actually on there. Try out what the other members suggested first since it's easier access to your amp. It's just a process of elimination at this point.

exactly what he said. If they do have to come close to each other make sure that they intersect at a 90* angle.

Another ground to check is at the wiring for the speakers. I paid a shop to install a stereo for me years ago and had a noise when the headlights were on. It ended up that one of the connections at the speaker were grounding out. That was the last time I paid someone to install a stereo for me!

Well today changed everything around, put the ground in a new place, nothing. Tried out new rca because the old one's had a cut in them. nothing. I'm figuring that its the amp that's no good because the buzzing, fuel pump noise is only in the speakers the amp is connected to when I disconnect the amp all the other speakers sound fine. The amp used to do the same thing with some subs but it wasn't as noticeable, right now its the highs and super annoying. Anybody reassure me that it could be the amp or what else do I check? The stereo is grounded, I think. The black wire goes to some connector. Should I just throw the amp away? what do you think?

I wouldn't throw the amp away just yet. Do you have another amp you could try out to eliminate the fact that it's your amp that's messed up or not? Even if it's not a car amp, you could use a home theater amp or something (with a long extension cord) and try that out. (unless you actually have to drive the car to hear the buzz)
