1998 GT Mustang

Should my key have a computer chip in it? Wondering because it does not and my fuel pump keeps shutting off every minute. Wondering if this may be the cause?

are you talking the fuel pump is cutting out when the car is running? like its stalling? or as its turning over it cuts out?

Ill be driving down the road whether im doing 70 or 25 its is about every min the car starts shiftign down and then dies. I put t in the shop and they said the fuel pump was bad on it so i had a new one put in and a new fuel filter. They said it is still doing it and that something is telling the fuel pump to shut off. It will also do it when it is idling. It does 4 sets of 5 beeps also before it does it but they told me that the beeps were because it does not have a passenger air bag.

you wouldn't be able to tell if there was a chip in your key or not....

the key is just one key with a black piece of plastic around it that houses the chip

and it wouldn't start if the chip was gone.... PATS would disable the car

does the anti theft light blink when it before it dies? if not, doubtful the key is the problem, shut off the pats with your tuner and that will tell you for sure. did you check the fuel pressure? i bought a new fuel pump a few yrs back and the damn thing pumped but had very little pressure.

Check the relay to see if you lose your signal for the pump

Alright a quick update. I just called the shop where it is at and they said that the car will stay running on carburator cleaner but as soon as you stop the spray it dies. Any ideas now. I really appreciate everyone trying to help me cause I have no clue about these cars. I just bought it a couple weeks ago
