its really not hard, if your not familiar with these motors just mark all the wires to where they go.

as far as a kit..i'd say part it yourself..i paid $100 for my intake, between gaskets, o-rings and such i'd say maybe $50. and went to local ford dealer for water pump nipple, metal crossover tube and new crossover sensors. i think with the sensors it ran me about $40 but thats cuz i get it for cost..would have been about at reg price $90.

as far as hood clearence, most of the mass of the new pi intake sits down into the galley of the block. there is only a 1/2" difference in high from manifold to head mount, to top of the plenum mount. compared to 3-5" difference down into the block, as to having to replace crossover tubes.

your best bet would be to do the whole pi swap if you already in there..but you dont have too..dont need pi heads to do pi intake, dont use a npi gasket like some write ups say. use the pi ones and use gasket maker to fill in the coolent passages

Don't feel too bad. I cracked two of them on my 96. First one was replaced under warranty though (in 98 w/around 25K on the odo). The 98 lasted till 04. Replaced that one with an NPI w/aluminum crossover.

+1 they say its a total of about 50-60rwhp difference..im guessing 10-15 from the intake and cams..so im guessing the heads due to compression bump are about 25-40. but it all varies on your motor, mileage, other mods...im kinda shooting for 300rwhp with the aftermarket cams.

I would suggest getting some used romeo PI cams and throwing those in there as well while you're at it. I got a pair of good used cams for $50. Having those two make a whole lot of difference. Not too hard to do either. Just throwing that idea out there.
