in your opinion best sounding cat-back

Folks,

Undecided between 2 right now (looking at sound of course and quality)

Either MAc-CAtback or American Thunder (FlowMAster).

I will have a aftermarket H-Pipe from BBK or Mac ... not sure which one and not sure it makes a huge diff (either one) I know it's a H-Pipe wth no cats.

Thx ...

I have the flowmaster roush side exhaust kit with the performance mufflers that make it sound insane with shorty headers...but before I got that set up i had a the Magnaflow 'Magnapack'..got it off of americanmuscle.com that thing was by far the loudest exhaust system i've heard...granted i had an off road X pipe and bbk shorty's helping me out, but that thing was by far the best kit in my opinion

What type of sound do you want? Do you want ear splitting loud, or do you want something a little more ear friendly?

We have an exhaust clip thread, and youtube is your friend when it comes to this. You can find almost any combo. Personally, I would go to some Mustang meets and see what folks are running and see what you like.

I'd also suggest forgoing the prefab catback and talking to your local muffler shop. You'll pay less money to have a custom system made and installed than you will for the catback, much less the catback + shipping + installation (if you have someone else do it).

X2 on MPs comment. Go to a meet, if you hear something you like, ask what they have. I personally don't like ear splitting, but a whole lot of people do.

I'm looking for that classic muscle car rumble. I got an aftermarket H-Pipe from either MAC or Pacesetter that I will be installing that I got at the Ford Nationals last year at Carlisle, PA for 35$ (can't beat that). I know that the X-Pipe will give me that trumpet sound that I don't want.

Flowmaster I know has the classic sound that I hear almost everywhere ... I've gone to Youtube and such but most of the people try jamming the camera recording the sound into the exhaust pipe so you hear shit ...

Thanks again for all the opinions .. anyone else ??

you might like slp loudmouths with a catted x or prochamber. you can deffinately hear it...and its not that loud..i mean i have a friend that has a 96 gt with bbk shortys, bbk o/r h-pipe and flowmaster catback...and my slp lm1 catback and bassani catted x is louder at idle...but about the same when you take off..here is a few revs and idle of my car

its not you typical flowmaster sound you here everywhere with every type of car. but with cats its not real raspy. plus like stated before..flowmaster's rust within months..slp will look and sound good for longer than you'll probably have the car

Sounds nice but I think it's too raspy to my ears ...
I think I would prefer more the deeper H-Pipe Sound ...

man the guy is comparing mac and flowmaster guys. all you straight through muffler people can leave to the o.p, mac mufflers sound much more musclecar-like than flowmasters.

Thumbs down

thanks

I have nothing against the other setups but it's all about preference.... and u'r right .. .the more I hear on youtube etc ... the more I'm leaning on MAC ... found a place in Texas THR (shipped) 10$ + 313$ .... not a bad price eh ???

if anyone has a site where the deals are better .. let me know !
Thanks
Ralph
