battery relocation
okay so im trying to finish up my battery relocation, among other things, and i need to know some things to get. i bought a "kit" from a member on here but he screwed me out of the major parts, ie the cables and stuff to actually hook it up.
i THINK i have all of the other hardware to bolt it onto the car (not 100% on this) but if someone could give me some idea as to the other parts i need to finish this up would be helpful. i know i need a positive and negative wire, as well as a connector for the battery and the positive wire to hook up to. also need a thing to connect the negative wire to and then bolt? the thing to the car so it completes the ground. i would really like to know which wire is ok to use and which connectors and whatnot to use. for example 2#, 1#, 1/0, 2/0, etc etc. this website has a bunch of cables and attachments that i think would help me complete it but im just not 100% on the ones i need to order. https://weldingsupply.securesites.co...:4:UNDEF::::PA |

I've heard of people using the welding cable instead... not a bad idea.
I would use the 1/0 gauge. Its rated for quite abit more current than you'll need. But it also is big enough to counter the added resistance that you'll get from using the longer cables.

I wouldnt want to have to rely on speaker wire to carry that kind of current that far.

The welding shop should have ring terminals that fit each guage wire... thats what i did on the one ends and then on the other end I put it on the battery post... remember if you are going to go to any drag strip you will now need a shut off switch and you will have to run a wire from the alternator back to the battery and not to the fuse box..., that way the car will instantly die when you hit the kill switch.

ok welding shops are hella expensive. like 2x what that website is, so my question is how much wire will i need? 20ft? 25ft? 15ft? and what gauge should i go with? 1/0? 2/0? 2#?
