Swapping out Decklids need some help

as some of you may know ive been running spoiler-less for most of the time ive owned my stang, well i was looking around on the local craigslist and i found a decklid that doesnt have spoiler holes!! and even better its black!!!
i was thinking about how to go about putting it on when i thought about the lock for the trunk.. now on our cars ( 94's-98's ) it appears that the trunk is in 2 seperate sections, a large part, and a smaller portion close to the liscense plate the lock is contained inside the smaller portion. is it possible to remove the small portion from the new one and put my old one with my key and lock on to it? the part im talking about is circled below in red. (got this pic off google)

You can probably just loosen a few screws and remove the barrel of the lock and swap them

+ a bajillion. It doesn't seem worth the trouble to me when you can just open the glove box and hit the button. Most key fobs have a trunk pop button on them as well.

It just feels better and more finished if the key works in the trunk as well. I would make the extra effort for it. Give it a shot, and if its too hard you know it will still work without the right lock.

you could go with the rear seat pass through.

But I can understand wanting it done right.
