EVAPORATIVE EMMISIONS CONTROL FAULT???

I HAVE A 1997 SALEEN S281 AND HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN I GET IT READ IT SAYS" EVAPORATIVE EMMISIONS CONTROL MODULE FAULT". I HAVE REPLACED THE EEC VALVE, AND THE CHARCOAL FILTER BUT STILL GET THE LIGHT. WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO REPLACE WITH THIS SYSTEM EXCEPT THE HOSES, WHICH I CHECKED OVER AND THEY APPEAR TO BE FINE. NOW MY WIFE'S 1998 GT IS GETTING THE SAME CODE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. SHOULD I JUST PAY THE FORD DEALER SOME OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT TO FIX SOMETHING MINOR LIKE THIS?

I too had the same data trouble code in my 96. I changed the PCV valve, no help. Then the charcoal filter, code was still there. There's a little sensor near the charcoal filter that I changed after that and the code went away, however I can't remember the things name - I'll try and look it up, or if all else fails, I'll take a picture of it today or tomorrow and post it up so you know what it looks like. PM chris (97cobra) - for I think he may still have the Ford part numbers of the parts I am referring to as he had this same problem awhile ago.

there is a evap solenoid and another sensor in the same line, this line goes from the plenum to the charcoal canister replace both of them and this should fix your problem!! good luck
