I dont mind offbrand exhausts or intakes or stuff.
I only buy brand name when it comes to internals. Because thats were it matters.

thats very true, but im not sure what his/her mods are, if any, so thats why i stated that. i acually gained a few hp/tq by adding a bigger MAF to my car, but its completely rebuilt(heads, cams, intake, etc)

its not just getting caught up on brand names. another thing is looks, i dont like a bbk intake or any other intake that looks similar. they look cheap to me, same with the cheap stuff you find on ebay. i got a jlt cause i love how it looks. i say buy what you think looks best, yeah it may cost i little more but is that 50 or 60 or however much your going to spend more really gonna make that big a difference to you? plus if you ever go forced induction and dont need the intake you can sell it.

my two cents.
I installed a bbk cold on my 96 , but took it off and went back to stock. My thoughts
are it is a pain to install the filter and cleaning it was also a chore.

now im not one of those guys that hates the jlt. id love to have one and im sure they make more power than just about any other filter. but my car came with a bbk cai on it, and i hate the way it looks. but it gets the job done. and yeah there are several guys caught up on the horsepower aspect of things (trivial considering how little power these things add) bottom line being... these cars are a big waste of money ![]() +1 on what shark said. its whats on the inside that counts.

oh i completely understand the whole not making much money and trying to modify a car, ive had my car for 3.5 years and only in the past year have i really invested money into it. if youre good at budgeting your money you should be able to save at a decent pace, so whats another $50? especially if youre gonna get what you really want out of it and not sacrifice just to get a part on your car. i think when it comes down to getting parts you should get what you want even if its a little more expensive becuase in the end youll be more happy.

man if youre happy with your bbk by all means keep it. im not saying you should get rid of it. what im saying is if youre lookin to buy, you shouldnt sacrifice what you want for less, thats just my opinion though. another thing to look into if youre short on cash is used parts. ive come across some pretty good deals. $80 for a jlt. $80 for UDP.

thanks. blower cams will come after the vortech hopefully, the cheapy pi cams i have in now are far from ideal for a stock npi head. plus the cams i wanted needed a tune and they recommended injectors and stuff.. etc. so i figured, might as well take care of all of that with a blower kit lol. what brand are you going with ?

my car came with the K&N and i had an intake system on my old mustang from AM...and i did notice the chrome one would get a bit hotter than the K&N does...the K&N's do have a nice filter cone...but really...i'd say just get an AM one..the point is just to get an intake to free up the breathing and transport cold air...how you do it really doesnt matter, as long as you do it...now if you want to start comparing intake manifolds, heads, cams, ect...thats when you start to see real differences

BBK absorbs heat.. K&N is more expensive because of the name. The trick flow CAI is a K&N if im not mistaking too. I have an S&B and love it.. It was a very good price on rpmoutlet.com lots of people tend to favor jlt as well. I wouldnt spend over 200 on one though.
