Cold air intake vs cold air intake
Im on american muscle right now and going to be buying a cai very soon. I have a 96 gt, i noticed that the bbk one is only $189.99 but the k&n one is $244.99. What more are you getting with the k&n one? Is it worth the extra almost 60 bucks? Also with the bbk one wouldnt it be the better one because it pulls cold air from the fender as to the k&n one which just sits out?

the benefits from a cold air intake is very debatable. i would pocket the extra $60 and just get the BBK. alot of guys will recommend a JLT. there was one on my car when i bought it so i cant say what difference it made over stock.
when i swapped my 4v, i just got a good 9" cone filter and a billet MAF adapter plate and used a stock intake tube. it achieves the same effect and only cost like $40.

K&N is just that big brand name IMO.. theres better intakes out there for the money. The JLT is supposed to be the best for our cars

the chrome intakes look good but they get heat soaked very easy and you begin to just breath in hot air even though the filter is in the fender. They look good but kinda defeat its own purpose. Just saying... I have a JLT and its breathes better than my C&L ever did, JLT all the way!

JLT. dont get the Ram Air Intake as it defeats the purpose of a CAI. Get the true cold air. Intakes all operate on the same principles but JLT maximizes all of those principles.

You may get a 1-2hp gain with the JLT, but not alot.

its really pointless to upgrade your MAF unless you have forced induction. The factory will handle more than you think

The mass air isnt really an issue, because if your intake/cams/heads cant flow that, it dosnt make a shit of a differance if your MAF can.

I had a AEM intake on my 01 GT and noticed the difference when I put a JLT on.
My vote is for JLT.

The only reason i got a bigger MAF sensor was because mine was free, and it was tuned for my injectors.

are you honestly going to notice that much difference going from an ebay cai to a jlt? probably not. i mean, you *might* beat the other guy who bought the cheaper cai assuming he is within 5 lbs of your weight and you both drive the same and the weather is just right and the universe is tilted just so. but honestly the difference isnt that big. sure we can play "add all the 1-2 hp differences up" but in the end we are all still getting blown away by faster cars (ls1's, vettes, big turbo cars, etc) save the money for something worth while. zex kit, supercharger fund, gears, etc.

Exactly, I bought a ebay cai and did fine. Im glad i didnt spend much on it because i ended up going S/C. So i have no use for it anymore.
People these days are to caught up with "brand name shit" and not accualy thinking about parts themselves
