I've checked out some stroker kits. I beleive any "5.0L" kit is a stroker. That's how your getting the extra ci's.

I'm not sure i understand what your getting. Are you asking if the stroker kit for the 4.6 mod motor will stroke you out to a 5.0? ( Yes, that's what it's for but you should spend the extra $700 and get a forged kit)
Or are you saying your getting a 5.0 and want to know if the stroker kit will replace the internals? ( NO)

I have found a fully forged 5.0l kit but it is for a 5.0l but if i strok the 4.6l the 5.0l kit should work right? Here is the link to the kit. Let me know what you all think.

no, you are not going to be able to put a 331 or a 347 stroker kit in your 4.6. even if its stroked to a 5.0.

rofl wow. Ok what you want is this here......
ModMax - 4.6 and 5.4 Modular Experts just bc you stroke your 4.6 to a 5.0 doesnt make it a "5.0" ford motor. They are 2 completely different types of motor. The true "5.0" or 302 is a pushrod motor where ours isnt. It has overhead cams and what not. So again if youre wanting to forge/forge your 4.6 you need what is in that link or something like it. Hope that helped

Do you think it would be cheaper to just go 5.4 since most have forged cranks and then buying forged rods and pistons then forging a 4.6?

Well the stroke in the 5.4 is much longer. Same bore though. So the connecting rods for the 5.4 need to be much longer than the connecting rods of the 4.6 and same with the stroke length of the crank. The pistons between the 4.6 and 5.4 are the same though

5.4 is usually a good idea because more displacement=goooooood. anyway the rods and pistons are the same crappy powdered stuff ford used in the mustang so theyre garbage but from my knowledge the cranks are VERY stout and i have been told that they can withstand like 700hp or some crazy number like that.

Naw man, just build your 4.6. You can get a strroker kit on ebay for the 4.6 that will stroke it to a 5.0. Or you could keep your stock stroke and get a set of fully forged internals for around 1200 minus a crank. If your gonna forge the rest you should spend the extra money on the crank though. You can use any crank from a 4.6 cobra. They all have a forged kellog crank.
Why go through the trouble and expense of an entirely different engine when you can get all the power you want out of yours.

i wouldnt suggest stroking the 4.6 at all....in fact if youre going to stroke it then you SHOULD go with a 5.4 because by stroking the 4.6 you take away the advantage the 4.6 has over the 5.4. the equilibrium of the stroke vs. the bore, by stroking the 4.6 to a 5.0 you in essence are taking away its ability to rev higher and whatnot which is the advantage the 4.6 has over the 5.4. 5.4>5.0 because more displacement=goooooood like i said before.
either stick with 4.6 or go 5.4. there shouldnt really be a middle ground there |
