SOHC to DOHC

I was thinking about swapping the engine in my 96 gt for the cobra engine. This wont be for a couple of mounths if i do it but i was wondering a few things. First off, what all would i need to drop it in and what year would be the best to get. Im lookin for one for about $3,000-$4,000.

IMO you would be better off taking the 3-4 grand and spend it on what you got. From what i understand it isnt worth the headache. I would do a PI swap and buy a blower with that money......but thats just me..

I would rather do the oposite. After PI head swap youre looking at serious compression, like 10.5:1. So you can if you want, but you are going to need to do the internals as well, dished to lower compression.

I would do a 96-98 Cobra motor swap, not much pain at all. Most of its a easy swap. Get the motor and wiring harness. And you will be all set. I havent done the swap, but i know some people who have. Im sure someone else will post back with exact parts.

BINGO !! exactly what I suggest. You also can use the gt ecu and harness, you will have to modify the harness. You will also want to have the ecm tuned to suit the 4 valve, it will run without doing so just not near its potential.

I had no idea the PI swap raised your compression that much!!

Only if you want a 6 speed. A 5 speed from a cobra would work also.
