WD40 will dry off 90% before the car even rolls.. the other 10% won't last after one application of the brakes (as far as wd40 between the pads and the rotors.)

I know everyone is talking about the anti-squeal stuff that you can apply to the pads? Personally, I would get brakes with anti-squealing backing already on them and then add Brake lube to all the metal contact points. make sure you wire brush everything clean first.

Uh, wd40 doesn't evaporate like brake parts cleaner or alcohol man.

Yeah, you're right.. was was thinking of how fast brake cleaner evaporates, but it still won't hold on long after the brakes are applied.

I have had this problem twice. First time it was when i replaced the pads and rotors all the way around I forgot to clean off the grease on the rotors from being packaged. It soaked into the pads and constantly squeaks. what a pain. Everynow and then i take off the rims and spin the rotor while spraying breakleen on it. gets better everytime. The second time it happened I just simple needed to grease my front end. problems solved

Well I took off my right front caliper looked at it and put it back on. No squeak since, weird, but not complaining.

Turns out I got some warped rotor issues anyway so I have a set of drilled an slotted ones on the way with Hawk pads. Will make sure to clean before assembly and apply lube to pad touch caliper points.

oh and inspect ball joints, yikes!

Damn Squeaking Brakes!!!

I had the exact same problem on my 98 GT front passenger side. Drove me crazy!!! Finally I couldn't take it anymore and pulled the rotors. Low and behold they were warped BIG TIME. Put on new rotors and problem was solved.

I would suggest also replacing all of the brake hardware (the metal shim between the ends of the pads and caliper, etc). I think the kit is about 11 a wheel; remember to lube them also.

Ok here goes ... I ended up ordering a whole new set of front new calipers/ brakets and pads ... changed everything .. went away for awhile but now it's back. I put anti-squeak grease nowhere, I put no anti-friction rubber goop anywhere. So ... I'm thinking now if my caliper was slightly bad before the change (and assuminig it was binding) would it cause the rotor to warp?

Now i'm thinking I need to get the rotors "turned" to see what gives.

Again, as soon as I slightly push the brakes it goes away....

Anyone ? Any thoughts ?

thanks
Ralph

It's not a good idea to put new pads on without turning or replacing the rotors. Are the clips that go on the outside edges of the pads installed also?

How many miles have you put on the new pads? Once they start to glaze to their surface, the rotors, there's really no going back. If you purchased pads that have a lifetime warranty, or even any warranty, I would swap them for new ones when I installed the new rotors or had them resurfaced. There are metal clips on the caliper in the groves where the pads slide.

Not the best picture, but... You need to grease the clips too.
