Squeak sound in front (brakes)
Folks,
Last year I was able to isolate the problem to the front driver side (caliper, brake) assembly. I have changed the front pads, rotor etc. Squeak is still there. It does not squeak when I apply the brakes or when I turn left. I'm now thinking that the caliper holding braket is sligthly worn out making that the caliper sits in it's place but might be moving slightly as the car moves ... anyone else had this experience ? Reason I suspect that is because I have removed the rotors and brake pads a few times, regreased things up with anti-brake squeak thingee grease and it temp. goes away .... Let me know |

I had a squeak on my driver side front but I took the brakes off and put some lube on the pad where it touches the calipers and mine went away.

caliper is probably sticking. Also it might not be floating back and forth from rusted caliper bracket. It happened on mine. They are cheap. 20 bucks at autozone or the sort.

I'm going through the same thing right now. I thought it was the wear bars on the pad, but turns out the pads don't have wear indicators. They were low anyway so hopefully this fixes it. I am changing it tomorrow when I get the new rotors. I will let you know if this fixes it.

I had a similar problem a few months back after changing rotors and pads all the way around but also just in the front driver side, i took my rotor and pad back to autozone claiming they had a defect got some new ones and same thing occured again. I tried lubing it up even went and lubed em all cause i figured maybe it was a different one and I was hearing something.
I took it to a shop who stopped my squeak and has stayed gone for 6m months so far, but after charging me $110.53 they claimed it was because i used some rtv black on my bolts in ordr to keep em from backing out and they said that was the cause....idk but hey they stopped the squeak so if you dont mind the bill

Update
Ok .. here goes.
Went for a drive last night with my brother in law. He stuck his head out while I was driving and heard shit on his side (hoping here the Mother is not deaf ) ... and I still heard the squeak on my side. So it's def front driver side.Ok ... I get back .. let the pony cool off ... then I jam my fingers past the mags to touch the brake pad ... and was able to move it along the rotor .... so that to me did not seem normal ... I try the same on the passenger side and no go ... it does not move. So, this gets me thinking here ... I have a caliper that is staying to open or at least not flowing back and forth properly (cylinder). So here is my plan for this weekend ... I will bleed that side a little cause for some reason (just might be) there might be some air in there who knows . Then I will remove the brake pads and have my lovely assistant pump the brakes .... to see how the cylinder reacts .... then I will go from there .... what you folks think ?? |

Update .....
Ok so yesterday afternoon bled the front caliper(driver side) figured I have nothing to lose. Nothhing special or spectacular ... removed the braked pads and applied that orange rubbery goo to the back of both brake pads. I also applied a very thin layer to the caliper itself ... where the pads touch the caliper - figured what the hell
![]() Waited a good 15 minutes. Will be trying it sometime today ... weather permitting ... was one of those typical Quebec days yesterday - sun/rain and then rain/sun .... ![]() Stay tuned .... |

Did it work
So did it work? I'm thinking of using the glue your pad to the caliper stuff. I think that is what you are talking about when you say "orange rubbery goo."
I have a squesak squeak sqeak as the car goes down the road without brakes applied. Apply them and it goes away let off and it come back. |

Let's just say it kinda worked. It went away up until the other day. It's not as bad now ... but I still hear it. This means the "goo" worked but the underlying problem is with the caliper itself. I'm pretty sure it's binding which means it has to be replaced. Since my car is not a daily driver and gets stored for about 6 months out of the year ... I suppose it's expected. Anyhow, like I said, for now it's masked but the problem is still there but def. MUCH better and quieter than before. Hope this helps . Ralph |
