Usually it leaks right behind the alternator, THATS why its aluminum now. The thermostat area sometimes cracks and just like you said the coolant fitting in the rear passengers side area cracks.

I have never seen a problem with the 99-01 1/2 except they have certain sides. So get a left and right.

Thanks Matt! And I am going to take one of you pictures and color in where I think the silicon should go and then post it up here so you can tell me if I am doing it the correct way!

It cool that you cant take pictures!

Which is it like? Pic 1 or 2? 2 Shows the silicone going around the cooland passage on the flat part of the head where the gaskets and intake sit! Or in 1 I tried to show putting the silicone down in the passage and making it flush with the new gasket if you look at it from the top. I think it is picture 2, but 1 was what I was under the impression before now!

Very simple Matty man, you take silicone and put it under the gasket on the head. Dont put it in the valley. But actually ON the head beneath the gasket. Like in youre second pic.

If you happen to stumble apon the links in the for sale section that Ujust posted, dont even click them. What a joke. The first monkey used it on the intake ports and the second dude is using the NPI gaskets.

96. I dont trust anyone with my car. Im a tech as well so i do it all myself.

but im gonna assume anywhere from 160-250 for labor. And they dont know about the NPI to PI install instructions.

Okay that clears it up! It goes on the on the head! It is just basically making a better heavier duty gasket at that point! Thanks so much and I dont even know where those links you pointed out are! And ujslost showed me those cams for a 100 and I am considering those!

my best friend is a tec and he's wary of doing it. he says he can do it but he doesn't want to do it for several legitimate reasons. I was going to bring it to the local mustang pro shop and have them work on it. I don't trust shops either, but I'm pretty much at a loss.

Matt there is no need to do it like this is there? I just need to put some under the gasket by the coolant passage. Not all the way down the gasket and under the gasket by the coolant passage!

I would be no where with out you!

I was hoping you wouldnt find those links.

They are using NPI gaskets and putting silicone ALL over the intake ports. Its stupid. Just put 2 small dabs where i showed you on the coolant ports and you'll be all set.

Normally the silicon is 25 bucks, but the lady cut me a deal for 18! Glad it wasnt 40! And how were the cams? Cant wait for the write up! Then maybe I will try the PI cams in NPI heads!

Yeah just take it off ans slide the new tube in there. The only reason we need a new tube is because of the height of the intake in the valley of the motor. Just replace the tube so it looks like the picture that casper put up in his write up. I really dont know if you will still need the rubber hose, but just make sure that you have a good seal on it so it doesnt leak. My guess is that you will no longer need the rubber tube. Ask any more questions that you need and somebody will help you out!
