Heads cams @ intake

What kinda horsepower would you get from changing the non-pi heads , the crappy intake and the cams.

And what would be best for each one, Pi heads out of the 99+ I know that one

VT Comp Cams?

PI intake out of the 99+ also?

And after all 3 of these are done what kind of gains are you looking at.

Cause I know heads are about 600 bucks for the kit.

I think cams run about 2-300

Never really looked around at the intakes, and I imagine installation on all this shit is superciliously high, however I have met a new friend over the past week (actually I met him quite awhile ago, but just recently started believing in his installation talent). So he might be able to really help me a lot.

Changing over to unported P.I heads, cams and intake will net around 40-50 rwhp. Adding a set of aftermarket cams 20-30 or more depending, ported P.I heads are good for another 15-20 rwhp. All of these figures are N/a of course. Here is where it gets good, adding a set of ported heads and having a camshaft custom ground to the flow dynamics WILL net more power than any out of the box grind. I saw a 25 rwhp gain off a custom set of cams over my comp 270's on a N/A engine with a flat torque curve, the gains were huge thru the complete curve. Also tuning and types of fuel will result in better performance. I have found that most ported heads (2 valve) prefer more intake lift and duration than most other engines due to the flow differences between the intake and exhaust ports.

On a not so mildly built N/a motor I was able to get 335 rwhp with a P.I intake on a stock shortblock. NOTE: the shortblock gave before I could push for more.

Feel free to ask more, I can go on all day LOL . I love this part of engine building.

Ok so if I get the PI head setup and get them ported do I need to worry about polishing as well or save my money on that part?

As far as the custom cams , I do want the choppy idle out of them and is there a site that sells the type of cam your talking about or do i have to call around to different shops to find what I need.

I was lookin at this typoon intake manifold that comes with plenium n everything is that brand any good?

Polishing is a loose term when it comes to heads basically cleaning the rough casting. You can order a cam from comp, crower or anyone who sells cams. Just remember bigger is not better when it comes to cams and choose the one that best suits you power range.

The Typhoon, well the name speaks for itself it blows POS.. If you want a intake wait for some test on the Hardball'r or the Trickflow. I made 335 rwhp with a P.I so I don't believe there is any reason to replace something that works well N/A.

No doubt you'll love it, I have a guy coming from Canada in mid April doind the same for him. Instead of the RTV trick I'm going to (TRY) tig weld the coolant port mismatch in order to speed up the job.
