I have the same problem with my 96 but i'm 90% sure my intake manifold is not cracked. Im waiting to have a pressure test done to it. I've had some issues with my coolant light turning on and off speradically. It's come to the point were at the start of every day i check my oil and fluids. I bought my car from a used car lot because the car had a maintance record, clean car fax, 1 owner with 62k, and most importanly, my old car was clunking out and i was putting 1000 bux into her every 3 months just to keep her running. After the lights in the dash started turning on eradically i started looking into the maintence record and discovered that 80% of the stuff on the list was done in june of 2006. The car was sold, i believe in sept or oct of 2006, to the dealer that i got her from. I've already changed the tie rod ends, the ball joints r being replaced this week, and my clutch has to be babied. According to the car fax my car only logged 1500 miles in 06, so i feel that last spring when the owner started her up, things just started going wrong. All minor, but when u add them all up it definatly totals over 5 grand in work that the car needed, parts and labor. the coolant in my overflow was some nasty color, and i've added some twice since then. Cars 11 years old now, and I'm almost positive the coolant has been flushed. I know the used lot didn't even change the oil because when i did a week after i got her it was blacker then black. We forced them to change the hub bearing assembly on the passenger side twice because the first time they used a part from a totaled stang with 160k. Sorry to have this post so long, but i've seen a lot of posts about cracked intake manifold, even had a friend with one last year, and i felt that maybe my experiance with my car could help someone in the future. I know most of u all know this, but for those who don't, basic maintenance makes a difference, and lack there of can eventually put a hurting in your wallet, I'm just glad that my tech charges less then half price on labor rates, gets me huge part discounts, and is always broke, so he's alwys willling to take on a project.
