Going to the track tomorrow

Going to the track tomorrow to get a baseline on my stock 97gt

Thinking about borrowing some et streets or some drag radials from a buddy. Will my axles hold up ya think? And anyone recommend an rpm to launch at with a stock 4.6? I know some cars like the pedal on the floor some dont.

Do not use the tires. If you do hook, you will probably snap your axles. Because every car is different, take your car out in the street right now and just launch at different rpms. Find out which RPM will just barely let your tires to spin, and use that. Feather the clutch, and once you are not spinning, hammer it.

I doubt your axles will snap before your rear sway bar would - if you put stickies on, that is. I launch around 3200rpms, anymore than that on street tires and I'll be stuck in one spot all day long, if you know what I mean. Have fun n be safe.

Yeah I feel you! This is my first 5-speed, and well I took it to an empty parking lot and burnt some rubber since I was getting new tires that afternoon. But after I took off some rubber, I was trying it again, and all the sudden I smelt my clutch and saw smoke coming from the engine. Then I had to replace it so I havent been doing that anymore!
