Fuel Pressure Problem, Need Help.

I have a mostly stock 98 GT and I cant keep my fuel pressure high enough in the fuel lines and fuel rail to start the car, let alone run the engine. I used a fuel pressure tester and it hardly makes 10 lbs when it should be at 35 - 40lbs. Ive already replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and the fuel pressure regulator. I have no idea where to look now. Any ideas?

If you turn the car off and on repeatedly, does the pressure get any higher?

Yes for a little while, then as soon as I turn the ignition of the fuel pressure drops rapidly. Almost as if the fuel pressure regulator is not keeping fuel in the fuel rails, but I already replaced that part.

it is possible they sold you a bad regulator. I had that problem once with my ranger, i went through the fuel system completely before returning back to the regulator, it was faulty.

Well I had them re-order a new one and I swaped it out for the "faulty" regulator today and the car still doesnt start. Is it possible that one of my fuel injectors is broken and is letting all of the fuel pressure drain into that cylinder?

Well, I would say if it doesnt have a hard ping in the topend while turning it over, it's not likely. Unless one of the nozzle tips blew off and went out the exhaust valve, you can get a nozzle and oring kit, in sets, and pull the rails and see.

I found the problem. Turns out that I didnt reconnect the fuel line to the fuel pump correctly. This also solves my starting problem because the o-rings are worn out in this connection and the fuel pressure slowly drops to 0 after a while. But ill fix that soon.

Thanks for all your help Nintee7GTee!

You wouldnt happen to know where I could find a seal to fix that problem would you? Or at least have a good place to start looking for one?

not trying to thread jack but my 96 cobra has an issue that if you free rev it the first rev it will rev second rev it will bog down third rev it will stall. when driving the car say i go from 2nd to 3rd hell 1st to second at say 3000 rpm it will bog down for a second then pick back up.

i replaced the fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, and fuel filter

the fuel pressure regulator is another new one.

i havent driven the car long enough to know if it was a faulty fpr...

being that the car is a return style fuel system i took the rubber boot off the return line due to it being corroded any ideas on what the issue could be

oh at full throttle the car is fine.

i did the test from the exhaust and the passenger side holds up the dollar bill but the drivers side doesnt keep the dollar bill up theres a popping in the exhaust.

the car does have hollowed resonators and a exhaust leak on the passenger side collector on the header

exhaust is

bassani x-pipe
