Check Engine Light On!!! HELP!!!!

I was driving on the highway today to get to school and my check engine light came on. I took it by auto zone and this is the code/troubleshooting they gave me any help or advice on how hard or easy the fix is let me know.

I am not very mechanically inclined, but i would like to start doing more work on my car rather than take it to the shop to get fixed

Thanks,

Cody

you'll need to replace the "canister purge valve" and "thermistor" which are on a vac hose, inline off the upper plemun on the passenger(right) side of the car back at the firewall.... both pretty common problems on these cars n ur best bet iz togo to a Ford dealer for the parts which will run u @$80.00 4 both parts...

thats pretty funny . my car had the same problem and i wish i saw this beforehand. i brought it to a shop and they replaced the canister purge valve as mentioned above along with the vaccuum hose. i picked it up and drove it home and the light came back on. so i brought it back and they replaced the hose again. ok. picked it up and drove it home and it came on again. so i brought it back a third time. after being there four hours the guy calls me up and says he is not working on it anymore because they cant find anything and there is too much aftermarket stuff on my car for them (hahahaha). so i brought it somewhere else. they found that also the purge solenoid (which runs the purge canister) was bad. so after 4 days without my car and about $300 later it was fixed. what a pain.

so make sure whoever does it checks both the canister and solenoid to save yourself the grief.

Damn, you could have replaced the valve, solenoid, charcoal cannister and the vacuum lines for less than that doing it yourself.
