5th grind on rebuilt trans

Just bought my first mustang a few days ago so naturally im new to this site. I have searched this so please dont flame. Like the title says i bought it from the owner who said that the trans and rear had been rebuilt about 6-7months ago along with a replaced clutch. All gears shift fine and everything feels very tight but if i dont ease into 5th it will grind. I do have issues getting into reverse but it isnt a grind. The obvious answer in my mind would be the 5th gear synchro. However i find it hard to believe that a synchro has a half year life span. Id just like to know if any other issues would cause this grind other than the sychro. Any direction would be much appreciated. I do believe it has a short throw shifter installed.

no, sometimes it wont pull the fork all the way to fully disengage the clutch. i had a similar issue but mine only grinded in 2nd gears sometimes, i purchased an adjustable cable, firewall adjuster and a double hook quadrant, installed it and 2nd stop grinding. my problem was the factory adjuster wouldnt allow the clutch to fully disengage in 2nd gear, but now its all good

Ill check that out and thanks for the advice ill throw you some rep. If you dont mind me asking. How much did that run you? Also is there anyway i could check and make sure it was a clutch issue before i spend the money? The clutch doesnt seem to drag at all and starts engaging after a few inches of relief.
