oooooooook......before all the leg humping begins, tfo you think that changing up the gear ratio would be a bad idea?
i have the plan to upgrade my rear end at around the time i swap engines and ORIGINALLY had thought 3.73 but have changed my mind. i was thinking 3.55, however, my father thinks i should just stick with the 3.27. would i be able to keep the 3.27 if i upgraded the rear end to 31 spline and an eaton LSD? because i have both the 3.73 AND the 3.27, but not the 3.55 of course so basically i need a decision

dude get 4.10s, i spray with 4.10s and its fun as shit 3.73s arent bad either, but you'll have quicker acceleration with 4.10s and even without the spray shifting isnt bad, i drive 65 mph at about 2100 rpm gears are a great mod, but for whatever reason people get butt hurt if you recommend 4.10s over 3.73s

Yes, the gears will work with either diff and axle set. I had 2.73's in my 87 then went to 3.27's and loved it. My saleen came with 3.55's and i swapped up to 3.73's to go with the cams i planned on installing. I don't like them. 5th gear just runs out too early. Don't get me wrong, the added accelerastion is nice but the top end would be nicer TO ME. After i finish my motor build I'ma redo the rear again and go down to 3.27's with a torsen diff and 31 spline axles. I think the blower will compensate enough for the acceleration loss. ![]() ![]()

but from what i heard, i heard richmond gears go great with a detroit trutrac, soo who knows. just what i heard, so if i get my head chewed off, i will kill babies. For ford racing, i hear alotta people whining and bitching about how there products seem to be low in quality latley sooo. And motive, idk. Best advice is read, read, read, read, jackoff, and read some more about the gears and there brand. il admit this made me giggle a lil bit

i was actually asking if i should go 3.73, 3.55, or keep the stock 3.27 with the eaton LSD. yea im doing a 5.4 swap but no power adder for a decent amount of time. maybe some nitrous in the near forseeable future though

not sure on your tire setup, but id see how it hooks on nitrous first - then gear it up if you feel the need.

hmmm but that means changing the gears multiple times and THATs just no fun
i think ill just stick with the 3.27 because of the extra torque, laziness, and not wanting to change the speedo

Wow, that speedo gear takes like 5 minutes to swap out.

There all good brands. I have used Richmond with no problems as well as FRPP. The motive gears i have in now wine like crazy, but i did buy them used.

373s ALL THE WAY, unless your supercharging or turbocharging.
