popping in right front

on my 96 gt there is a loud popping/banging coming from the right front wheel area when i turn sharply or hit a pot hole, also the car is all over the road. almost 2 inchs of play in the steering wheel? ? I'm puzzeled because the balljoint boots arent split.

check your tie rod ends and your front control arm bushings while your in there. If your struts are toast chances are they have been putting strain on other suspension components. You may also want to check out your steering rack bushings.

i had the same noise and play in the steering wheel and i replaced the sway bar mount bushing because it was crumbling to pieces. handling problem as well as the loud noise went away completely.
