looks like oil in my coolant tank


FYo Guys I have a 96 gt i aways had problems wit tha low oil light then I started to get oil in my tank so I did a full pi swap new gaskets, new oil, just got it back and still marking low oil and started to have oil back in tank I aways had a small leak in my transmission line. But it looks light brown not like transmission fluid

sounds like a blown headgasket ??

what color is your coolant oil mix?

i would have to say gaskets, even if new are you sure they were put on/torqed properly?

edit: are the heads warped or cracked?

well if you had a blown head gasket before you did the p.i swap might just be all the old coolant cycling through.

just saying because thats what happened right after i did my swap.

so i ran straight water in it for 2 or 3 days then did a coolant flush and filled it up with coolant and no more milky coolant my .02 cents

Do this.

Sit outside with your car. Have it running and take your hose and put it into your resivoir. Then pull the plug on your radiator. Let it cycle the water through. Do this for like a half hour and it will be squeaky clea

I already did all that cleaned it real good but still came back. I kno it's not a gasket otherwise it will overheat I'm thinking its a leak in my transmission cooler could dat b possiblem?

Not true...it can still be a leaking gasket and not overheat..it depends on where the leak is. I drove my old car for months with choc milkshake in the resovoir before it begin to overheat and fail. I just kept cleaning it out while I prepared for the repair.

Just got back from the shop my mechanic told me it was the oil cooler, wat do yall think? Could that b the issue?

Well I gotta buy this oil cooler for $450 Im hoping it fixes tha problem if not then I'm gonna shoot myself this car is starting to annoy me
