check engine light

well yesterday my check engine light came on

i installed the MIL eliminators like three weeks ago for my H-pipe

two days ago i got my subwoofer hooked up..maybe i rattled something that would trigger the check engine light??

does anyone know what all i need to check right now that might be triggering the malfunction lamp?

oh and i already checked my oil and fluids in the engine compartment..they are fine.

check engine light.

Remove your mass air senser and check the hot wires to see if there's any buildup on them,if thier is go to a office depot and get some electronics cleaner,do not use carburator cleaner, throttle boby cleaner or anything like that.those products have oil in them. What i did was use the cleaner from my K&N kit and the elctronic's cleaner.Once i cleaned it i removed the positive and negative battery term. let the car sit for 2hrs.then reconnect the cables and drive it for 1 hr.that will reset the computer. You may just need to reset the computer after you did the mod.Hope i could help.

go to a local auto parts store and scan the car.
(it's usually free)

then look up the code to see what is causing the cel.

yeah no one can predict what it is. Just have the code read and then come back with a number.

Out here none of the auto parts places will do a scan, but Harbor Freight sells a pretty good OBDII scanner for less than $100 (it goes on sell fairly often for $50). I'd suggest getting one, so you can scan the codes whenever they come up.

Also - there's 2 scanners that HF sells, get the good one, it's worth it.
