1st ever Dyno results are in!![]() I have to say, my first experience getting my car tuned was AWESOME! I even bought a new digital HD camcorder to document the event. (will post videos when I get them uploaded) So my mods are shown below. I've owned my 1997 GT since 2003. Until recently, it was mostly stock, with only a o/r x pipe and a bbk knockoff chrome POS cold air kit, plus some other crap that probably didn't help any. In that form, the best run I pulled was a 14.92 at Byron Dragway in Illinois. In the early spring of 09 I found a local guy (6 blocks away) on craigslist selling PI heads, intake, plus loads of extras. I talked him down to $400 for everything and the mods started snowballing from there. (well, if I do heads, I should do cams and headers while I'm in there...). I homeported the heads and due to the economy, i had a week off unpaid a month (did have unemployment). I spent about 80-100 hours porting my heads, taking my time and referring to Sean Heylands book, a lot. I'm sure you don't want to read a book, so here are the #'s. These are uncorrected #'s from a Mustang Chassis Dyno. N/A RWHP 293 RWTQ 298 N2O RWHP 360 RWTQ 398 I had a little lean spike at N2O kick in, which is now fixed with different settings on my Window Switch (messing with ECU going to WOT fuel trim), and will now be able to add a few more degrees of timing back in to the N2O tune, and should gain the 30-40hp back on the bottle. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before: Crappy CAI, Diablosprt Delta, Plenum Spacer, ST Shifter, Rear End Girdle, O/R X-Pipe, Dynomax Ultraflo CatBack Now: JLT CAI, BBK 78mm plenum/tb, PI Intake & Ported PI Heads, 3 angle valve job, COMP springs locks & retainers, COMP 270AH cams (degreed!), March SFI u/d pulleys, BBK LT Ceramic Headers, BBK O/R x-pipe, 42lb/hr injectors, Lightning MAF, Dynomax Ultraflo Catback, NOS Noszle 125HP Nitrous Kit, Rhinopack Stage 2 clutch, Pro 5.0 ST shifter, FRPP 4.10 gears, MAC rear end girdle, SCT X3 tuner, Custom Tune by Benchmar Tuning, Chrome Bullitt's w/ 315/35 BFG DR's Soon: Weld in subframe connectors, Rear Upper and Lower Control Arms w/ torque box plates, Driveshaft Safety Loop. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- These #'s would equate to about 323HP/327TQ NA (396HP/438TQ N2O) on a dynojet dyno (from what i read 8-15%), and with drivetrain losses (~10%?) 351HP/357TQ NA (432HP/477TQ N2O) at the crank. I guess the true test will be at the track as soon as I can get there.... I have to give HUGE Thanks to Mike Cerra @ Benchmark Tuning for helping me and spending so much time with me. He makes it right no matter what it takes. Thanks Mike! Here's the graphs: ![]() ![]() Wat do you think? |

awesome numbers man. glad to see all those hours paid off. very clean too. i myself would keep the exhaust tips - just try and tuck them deeper under the bumper so they dont stick out as much. otherwise some 3" or 3.5" tips would look menacing with those 315's
im with you on the quiet exhaust thing. think about switching out the produmps (which are extremely fun btw) with the regular magnaflows - though id need to add a little more power to be up to your level
