Power Electrical Outlet "help"
Bought a radar detector, and just found out my outlet in the car doesnt work..how can i fix that problem? parts..exc..money.thanks guys

Go look in your fuse box first. Check the fuses labled "20", it could be blown. And while you're at it you might as well check the rest of them because sometimes other fuses can mess something up. Anyways just check the fuses, if they look corroded or are broken replace them. You can get fuses and a fuse puller tool for like 7 bucks at O'reilly's. If that doesn't fix it you probably have a short somewhere.

would it be the fuse box under the steering wheel? or the one under the hood..
i checked one under the hood that was for the cigaratte but it was fine.. |

Check to make sure it is connected. There isn't alot of room in that area and mine didn't work when I got it. The previous owner had just unplugged the wiring due to the way the bezel sat higher on that side with it hooked up. It has a simple blade connector and a L shaped connector. Just pry up on the sides of the bezel and it should pop right off. You will see the power port attached to the bottom of the bezel.

so i checked all the fuses are good, now i have to check it the power outlet is disconnected or if i should buy a new one....im going to have trouble dissembling the dash area :/

No, you just need to pop up thge shifter bezel. ll the wiring to the power ports runs under the center console. There should not be a need to disassemble the dash.
Just pry up gently on the corner of the shifter bezel. It will come right out.
