Rim paint, car paint problem

So my rims are the American muscle 200s, they came grey, and almost like a sandpaper texture but has been painted black with the chrome lip. So all 4 rims are painted but the one time I took it to a car wash, the kind you drive up and put it in neutral I feel like my tires are scrapping the side and the paint comes off the rims. Does this happen to everyone? And if you have painted rims how do you keep your car so clean? My biggest problem is my car is black so If it doesnt get dried water marks are all over it, so it makes it pretty difficult to get it clean. What do you guys all do ? Any input would be appreciated

i always steer clear of the car washes that have the "track" that you just put in neutral and it pulls you. i have side exit exhaust so its a big no no for me.

my best advice would be to find a decent one in your area that is just a "Drive through" or wash your car by hand.

also as for the water spots i just keep a microfiber towel with me in the back seat and that solves that (like 5 bucks for 3 or 4 at the auto parts store)

hope that helped a bit

Yeah, I got one of those 3ft x 3ft "shammy" and it just smears the water around..I dont know why its so difficult lol. Sounds like a stupid problem but its actually quite annoying

Don't take your car to a car wash, wash it by hand and then dry it. I use an "Absorber" from wal-mart. I do it to both my black cars and have zero water spotting.

If it just pushes the water around, then you need to get a better shammy. Don't buy the $0.97 towel from Wal-Mart. IIRC the actual "Absorbers" are like $15 or $20 and work great, but there's a knock off of it that wal-mart also sells for less that is absolute shit.

Make time to wash it by hand and you won't have that problem... And plus it cleans things better...

I've been using it for years, and my parents use it on their classic Mopars. We've never had a problem. Just make sure it stays free of dirt, or it'll grind that shit right in.

my uncles used to use that little water gun thingy they sell at wal-mart to wash the motorcycles i forgot what company makes it but its an attachment looks like a super soaker and it goes on your hose. it has different settings like spot-free etc and it has a compartment for the soap.

actually worked just as advertised no spots or anything with minimal effort.... ill see if i can remember wtf its called

I get confused when spanky and KV talk to each other, I can't keep their damn cars straight. I end up thinking someone is talking to themselves
