difference between 96 and 2004 block

difference between 96 and 2004 block


is there any difference in a bare 4.6L romeo cast iron block from 1996-2004?

yes but it will be a head ache and not worth the time or money! The cobra engines are DOHC meaning 4v where as the GT are SOHC meaning 2V. It will be cheaper and easier to just get a 4v motor to start with than make your 2v a 4v.

what difference is there in the block for a SOHC and a DOHC engine? I thought that the bottom end was pretty much the same between the two

There are a few different holes for the different timing chains and things like that!

To sum it up you can take any modular block(4.6) and make it whatever you want. They all share the same basic demensions, internals ,heads and ect. are all compatable some just require minor modifications to get you where you want them to be. One thing to note if you want a 4 valve you need the compatable parts.
