Bama Tuners

Anyone purchased one of these Bama tuners from American Muscle? They have 1000's of great reviews on American muscle about them but I was just wondering what you guys think? Thanks http://www.americanmuscle.com/mustan...om-tuners.html

They are very good and love to help you if you have any problems. I bought one over a year ago and they have gladly updated my tunes as I added more mods. Their tunes are nice and aggressive, very streetable and even improve MPG (as long as you're not driving with the pedal buried in the floor). I definitely recommend them

Mine is good, if you have an automatic, it's a PAIN to adjust the tranny settings!!
You literally have to drive it until you find the settings you are satisfied with. BUT, mine went from 23 mpg to around 17 now! I was getting up to 276 mpt! At less than 13 gallons, now I'm down to 174 avg per tank now, at 60 mph! I wanted to do a gear swap, but I don't think I can take anymore loss in economy! Mine is a daily driver with 155860 on the clock! I only have a 3.08 gear ratio so I won't get alot of performance out of mine, if it weren't for the drivability issues, I would be more pleased!

Uh sounds like a problem there, maybe you should get a retune and/or don't mess with the settings yourself.

Adjusting shift points via end user adjustability will have HUGE affects on gas mileage. I would call and have us tailor the shift points so MPG isn't affected.

Without the adjustments, it's shifting way too soon, and if I try to pass someone on the interstate, it shifts back and forth to 4th and od! I had to add a few mph to the shift points from 2-3 & 3-4, with the temperature changes here in Shreveport lately, it shifts differently in the morning a opposed to the afternoon! More firm in the am, but the 1-2 shift occurs at 2800 rpm, no matter what the setting is on the tuner! It's at 0 pressure over stock and still 0 mph over! I haven't adjusted any spark advance settings since I purchased it, only the 2 and up shift points and octane ratings still stock on fan switches

I shouldn't have to hit the od button to pass!! Never had to before, never had to worry about the erratic shifting during a pass either! I've been working toward eliminating the problem, not overlooking it hoping it will go away!
Sounds like " I have a rattle and turned the radio up so I wouldn't have to hear it anymore"

Are you talking about part throttle shifting our WOT shifting?

Your not gonna be able to to modify the part throttle shifting on your handheld.
The way the tune works is Throttle position.

So at 25% throttle 1-2 shift is like 3k or so. And 50% throttle its like 3500 or whatever.

It's at part throttle! All settings are supposed to be for wot, apparently that's not how it works! I returned it to stock for te ride home, all is fine! I'm reflashing it now and gonna take a short trip! Anyone else actually using the tuner with auto? What kind of settings did you use? With economy tune on 87 octane is when it acts the best!

I can't run w.o.t, I have a broken dipstick tube on tranny, and no one has one on earth! I can get a new transmission and a tube, the moron at the local performance trans. Shop told me what tranny I had before looking at it, he swore I had a 4r70w! Mine is aode, different part #! Even when I took it in, he tried to sell me the wrong one, I offered 500$ if he could fix it, the tech raised it up, saw the pan, lowered it back down! They did try welding it. FAIL! Any suggestions on this?

Ok i have the tuner and my cars an auto.

I wasnt talking about the options you have. Im talking about ACTUALLY TUNING the car. What bamas options are.

At part throttle these cars shift at 2800 1-2 gear. My car does it too. Not a big deal. The SCT tune is for performance.....

Also your car has an 4r70w. If you dont beleive it then ok but you dont have an AODE. Foxs have an AODE. You sir have a 4r70w.

I can give you the vin and you can check yourself! This is 1 owner! Never been sold since the dealer sold it march 1997! I have serviced this car myself! The 4r70w transmission filter kit WILL NOT work in this car! I know, the dealer thought the same thing when I went to ask for the tube, they use the vin and verified the transmission! Funny how the 1-2 shift occurs before 2k at part throttle with out the tuner, but with the tuner almost 3k I have a 3.08 ratio, I can see shift at 2800 with 3.73!

The Mustang Source - The Ford Mustang Fan Site they can give you specs on the chassis builds! They use the same platform! The fox chassis didn't stop with the body style change
