The swap out have someone do it for or yourself?

What do you think save money and do it your self, that if you have a shop to do it in, or pay some one and get the chance it goes wrong. Well i'm doing it my self and its going great. look and see.

Well seeing as this entire forum is about modding your car. 99% of us do this kind of stuff ourselves. Is not that special lol

the nice thing about paying someone to do it (shops, specifically) is that they have tools that most people dont - lifts, heavy duty impacts, air compressors, removal and reassembly tools, lubes, nuts, bolts, etc. and usually more than one person walking around so that if something comes up they can figure it out. not only that but they will warranty their work and they have to get it right. they can also work on your car while youre off at work or spending time with family and friends instead of laying on the cold ground covered in oil, grease, sweat, blood, and frustration. if you decide to cut corners on your car - especially with the engine, dont expect it to last long. thats something you want to do right the first time.

that all being said - this is a forum of mostly young, low income enthusiasts. most of us do not have the income to pay our gas and insurance on time, let alone pay somebody hundreds or thousands of dollars to do work on our cars. we can provide you with all of our collective knowledge, but its up to you to make sure you have the means to complete the job successfully. if, like me, you are the type who gets sick of working on a project after a few days of going at it - it would be wise to save your money and pay a reputable shop to perform work on your car. hindsight 20/20 i wish i wouldve done that myself. wouldve saved me countless hours, countless headaches, and now possibly my engine as it goes to get supercharged in the next few months.

just my 2 cents...

you make a really good point, at first i didn't have the time, but were I took my car the took a week to remove the motor. I wasn't to happy about and I was going to school too, now I have time and a shop with all that good stuff to do it "My Wrecker Shop" and I have a bay to do it in. the 4.6l OHC it had the crank locked up they sold me a bad one, got my money back and got a good one and I checked it this time.

it is easy but if you can't find a mustang motor then the next up is a crown vic its the same block just different parts location and the front plate were all the pulleys are has to be changed out for you bolt points on the coil packs for both sides, so you need to pull the harmoinc balencer to do it.

5.4 swap *COUGH*

preaching to the quire buddy...

Its all the same really... Take your old engines timing cover and swap it onto the new one if the other one dosnt work. Drop your intake manifold and stuff on the top.

I dont see the issue lol..

nice the 5.4 yeah its the same set up, timing cover is the issue, where is the 5.4 from? I can't wait to get one to but one thing i like is having a shop it helps so much it's a lot faster with a compressor.

I did my entire engine swap with basic tools and a socket set.

There is no timing cover issue... you just drop the motor in as is.
