Complete 03-04 mach 1 engine drop in?

Ok guys I am considering buying a Complete 03-04 mach 1 engine 4v dohc with all the wiring to go in my 96 gt. Will this engine bolt in to my 96 gt transmission?
Will I need to upgrade my computer in the car? Also is this engine forged? The guy says it came forged from the factory.

Well I have been debating on this and several other ideas a guy on another forum has a good deal on a 5.4 and I have also considered just putting another stock 4.6 in. My dilemma is I have every bolt on for a 2v their is as well as cams, ported heads and headers, and if I upgrade to a 4v I will lose all of that time and $ I have spent so far.

I am really hoping to find a moderately priced forged short, or long block that is used. If I wasn't looking I am sure their would be plenty available. The Mach 1 would also require me cutting a big square out of my newly painted hood although I guess it would look pretty cool.

Do you think the Mach one would be a good swap? The guy wants 3500.00 for it complete with harness ecu, and fly wheel it only has 60,000 miles on the engine. It also has a forged crank in it already, but still has the stock rods, and pistons, or would the 5.4 be better.

Well seeing as the rods and pistons are the weak part the forged crank aint doing you much good

I did my entire swap for 2600 or so with EVERYTHING. Im talking thats all the gaskets, fluids, hardware ...everything.

I'll find out what it runs tommarow maybe.

5.4 swap is easier and cheaper id think

i mean i havnt seen a 96-98 with a mach one scoop before so i think it would be cool. Its up to you though. 2vs are cheaper to build. 4vs are better but more expensive to work on.

I think the 4v is a "little" lighter then the 5.4 2v

go with the mach swap. use your stock computer and harness. mach I's have a returnless fuel system so if you use the mach harness you will have to use mach fuel tank and fuel lines (more work, time and money than necessary) just modify a set of 96-98 cobra fuel rails to fit the mach intake (not hard to do) you will have to extend a few wires (tps, iac.... and i think that is it) contact this guy (Just finished!!!! Plug and Play C.O.P Conversion Harness!! Will be available shortly - SVTPerformance) and get a COP conversion harness so you dont have to worry about a way to mount the coil brackets. you can use the shaker setup or just run a 99+ cobra cold air intake setup (mach intakes are basically 99+ cobra intakes with an extra bracket to hold the shaker scoop into place) transmissions are the same.

5.4 would give you more power potential down the road but it is more expensive. the hardest part of doing a 5.4(im assuming we are talking about 5.4 DOHC navigator motors here) is the intake. your options are pretty limited, sullivan (i believe they just discontinued their 5.4 DOHC intake so they are harder to get and now more expensive) 2000 cobra r (GOOD LUCK there!!) and the australian boss 290 intake (about 1000-1500$ ish). plus the internals are a little pricey.
if you do a 5.4 SOHC you will have to use a newer motor out of a truck (newer ones have PI heads) and then you will have to find a set or Reichard Racing adapter plates for the intake (about 250-350$ ish)

i would do the Mach I motor myself.... or check this out Drop in 5.4 S/C Engine - SVTPerformance this would be your best bang for the buck in a major way!!!

good luck with whatever you decide if you need any help shoot me a pm..... i do a lot of swapping and modding for the local stang clubs in ocala..... i have a bit of an obsession lol

For you this is what a sn95 looks like with a mach one scoop. Its a friends car. he painted and did all the custom work. that is a mach 1 hood and a gt hood molded into one and he didnt go with the mach 1 motor. he has a 351 windsor with alot of engine work.
